Natural disasters and man-mad disasters have been the cause of many children deaths throughout the world. More than 2 million children have died as a direct result of armed conflict. More than 6 million have been permanently disabled or seriously injured. An estimated 20 million have been forced to flee home because of conflict and human rights violations. Current issues such as natural disasters in Chile, Haiti, Iceland, Mexico, and China has also caused death and poverty. Other countries such as India, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Maldives, Thailand, Myanmar, and Samalia face natural disasters, civil wars, and war. This is an issue that could happen to anyone and should be taken seriously. Its our job to help those less fortunate.

Gender Inequality in Education

The issue of gender inequality in education happens in countries all over the world and has many factors. Education is an important part of every childs life both boys and girls. 93 million children are not in school and out of that 93 million 48.4 million of them are girls. Education is an inalienable right, this means education is a form of basic human rights. Everyone should be able to have an education, but for these girls they are denied this basic human right. Some main factors include poverty, expectations, work, birth registration, early marriage and pregnancy, saftey, and hygene. Poverty is a huge issue because if a child goes to school it gives them less time to do work which means less money to help their family. Boys are considered a better investment then girls so it's more important for the boys to go to school because once a girl is married any money she makes is property of her husband. The belief in early marriage states that married girls should not do paid work but house work and childcare. Since families in some countries dont expect thier girls to do well they have low expectations and achievements. Work is also very important, women work lon hours in fields and factories, doing dangerous work in the street, or are maids in other households. Another major issue is birth registration, 40 million children world wide are not registered at birth and without birth certificates they have no right to go to school and have no identity. The saftey of these girls are also at jepordy if they chose to got to school. Parents may keep their girls home because a trip to school is to long or dangerous to go alone, and because parents worry about bullying, sexual harassment and violence by other students and teachers. Lastley, hygene is also an issue because some contries are to poor to sustain the needs of young girls in school. Some places may not have washrooms which disables them from keeping good hygene.
